A high-achiever who lost her way and came back better than ever. As a Certified Burnout and Balance Coach, I'd love to help you do the same.
Passionate About Inspiring Others
I've been to burnout and back, and learned a lot along the way.
I am the co-founder and head coach at Eight Minds.
I spent the first 12+ years of my working life as a lawyer, then partner, in a large law firm in Calgary.
As a busy professional, wife and mom of two young children (just seven months apart!), I struggled to find that elusive "work-life" balance.
I was always stressed. When I was working, I worried about my kids & what my long hours were doing to them. When I was home, I battled guilt that I wasn't at the office. I kept a notepad by my bed to make insomnia-fuelled notes about client files. I ate lunch at my desk, guzzled diet coke & coffee to stay awake, and drank red wine to sleep.
Self-care always took a backseat to my work & family responsibilities.
I was "doing it all" - but none of it very well - and eventually, I burnt out.
I became dependent on unhealthy coping mechanisms (wine), forgot what life was really about & lost my mojo in the process.
After much soul-searching, I left law and began the work of creating a career & life that I didn't need to escape from.
As a coach & wellness expert, I speak with honesty & empathy. I'm inclusive, non-judgmental, and empathetic, because I've been where many of my clients find themselves.
I’ve spent ten satisfying years helping busy professionals create more balanced, joyful lives. I’ve learned so much about what gets us stuck, and un-stuck, and how easy it is to lose yourself when you're taking care of everyone else.
I have a background in nutrition & wellness (NNCP, RHN), extensive life coach training through CTI, and a sub-specialty in alcohol-free life coaching (This Naked Mind Certified Coach), so I also always incorporate a focus on healthy living in my personal coaching sessions.
I'm also a seasoned public speaker who loves to spread the good word about the importance of slowing down, being present, and taking back control over your life, wellness and career.
